3 Reasons Why Tottenham Can Still Make the Top Four

Tottenham, over the past few matchdays, have slipped up quite a bit. Their form at the moment is abysmal, and following their 0-0 draw with Watford over the weekend serious doubts arose over Tottenham’s ability to potentially make it into the top four come the end of the season as it marked their 4th game without a win.

Despite the poor performances, though, Tottenham still have a decent chance of clinching a place in next season’s Champions League. Here are 3 reasons why;

Chelsea’s Inconsistency

Chelsea vs Watford

Chelsea, who currently reside in 4th-place, aren’t doing a very good job of maintaining their place in the top four. They’re so inconsistent to the point where it’s almost like they’re asking teams to overtake them on the table.

Lampard, so far, has done a great job of getting Chelsea to a level where they’re able to sit 4th on the table despite their lack of ‘experienced’ personnel in multiple areas across the pitch, however, Lampard has struggled to lead his side to maintain their position.

Chelsea are currently sit 8 points above Tottenham on the league table – one inconsistent month for Chelsea could be enough to give Spurs a chance to secure a top four finish.

Quality

son heung-min

Compared to most teams in the League, Tottenham have an amazing squad. They boast the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Ming and Christian Eriksen amongst others, all of whom are good enough to secure starting berths playing for some of the best teams in the world.

These players are highly capable of taking Tottenham on a good run of games where they’re able to consistently win games in a bid to close the gap between them and Chelsea.

The transfer window is yet to close as well so there’s the potential for a big-name player who could arrive and make everything click for Tottenham.

The League’s Overall Quality

Jose Mourinho - Manchester United

Quite frankly, teams in and around the top 6 have been performing below par this season.

Teams who are chasing a place in the top four keep losing to weaker opposition, which in itself has made it easier for the likes of Liverpool to amass a ton of points because notwithstanding their incredible efforts, they are the best team in the league, allowing them to win pretty much every game against Premier League opposition.

What Tottenham have to do going forward is essentially to operate at a high enough level. A level to which fans can feel confident about their team’s chances of winning a certain game.
