Following the events of the first half of the Premier League season, Chelsea’s main aim for the next six months is to secure a top four finish.

Here’s a look at four reasons why Chelsea fans should be confident about securing a top four finish;

Tammy Abraham’s Influence

Tammy Abraham has, perhaps unexpectedly, taken the Premier League by storm this season scoring 12 goals in 19 assists. The 22-year-old scored the winner for Chelsea against Arsenal on Sunday further solidifying his side’s hold on the 4th positon.

Abraham has proven that he can consistently find the back of the net for Chelsea and score important goals in a Drogba-esque manner hence Chelsea fans can rest assured that their number 9 will score goals throughout the second-half of the season.

The Overall Quality of Top 4 Contenders

It’s fair to say that this is one of the weirdest top 4 races in the Premier League’s history. It’s almost like every club looking to secure a top four finish is in a competition determine who can lose the most points.

The likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and even Arsenal have been inches away from clinching 4th place on different occasions this season, but they have been unable to maintain the level of consistency required to secure a Champions League qualification spot.

Chelsea can be confident of a top four finish because the teams below them are pretty much guaranteed to drop some important points going into the second half of the season.

The January Transfer Window

Chelsea’s squad needs some upgrades. In fact, it has been in dire need of upgrades since the pre-season period – Frank Lampard was just unable to make those upgrades due to his side’s transfer ban.

Regardless of the ban and the lack of new quality signings, Lampard has been able to lead Chelsea to 4th place thus far.

Considering the fact that the January transfer window is set to open soon, and considering the fact that Chelsea will be able to make new signings in January, the Blues should have a squad strong enough to secure a top four finish come the end of the season.

Cohesion

Chelsea look like a strong cohesive unit. Frank Lampard has been able to create a squad filled with a tight-knit group of players who know how to complement their respective abilities which has allowed Chelsea to thrive despite the lack of transfer activity.

Chelsea’s cohesion has the team performing at a really high level, and they will continue to do so throughout the rest of the season by the looks of it.

Chelsea fans need not worry about securing a top four finish because at this point in the season, their chances of playing Champions League football next season are pretty high.
