5 players that Leeds United could sign to gain promotion to the Premier League

This could finally be the year that Leeds United are back in the promised land of the Premier League. They are currently at the top of the league and are playing well under Marcelo Bielsa. However, they will need to add to their squad to keep the momentum going.

Neal Maupay, Brentford

The third highest goal scorer in the Championship behind Tammy Abraham and Billy Sharp is obviously going to interest the top team in the division. The Frenchman has continued his good form after his debut season last year by adding 15 goals to Brentford’s cause already. As well as being able to finish well he is able to hold the ball up and find the killer pass for his teammates.

Fran Sol, Willem II

The Spaniard was on the radar for both Celtic and Rangers but seeing as they have both signed strikers in recent days their interest has feigned and alerted Leeds United. With Willem II languishing in mid table Sol might be tempted with a move to England and possibly finish the season as a champion.

Tyler Blackett, Reading

The former Manchester United man is becoming a real talent in the Championship and has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs. With the side looking for a new central defender, the converted left back might be the answer. His versatility could also come into play if injuries arise as he is also comfortable playing on the left side of midfield. Wigan Athletic have already had a bid turned down for him but Leeds should not wait around and miss their opportunity.

Kiko Casilla, Real Madrid

Having played for one of the biggest clubs in the world, albeit as a back-up goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla has a lot to bring to Leeds United should they complete his signing. The Spanish goalkeeper is reportedly close to signing for the club, and given their need of a solid shot-stopper he’d be a good fit for the team.

Oliver Norwood, Sheffield United

Norwood is an all-round central midfielder who brings balance to the side and could be what Leeds need in the centre of the park. He has been a standout performer for Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United and their impressive 3rd place would not have been possible without him. The Northern Ireland international has plenty of experience in the Championship including promotion with Brighton and Fulham. This experience could be key to a side who have not been in the top flight since 2004.
