What This Lyon Star May Bring to Anfield

Date:

Jürgen Klopp was wildly optimistic in Sunday’s interview, and his comments have caught the attention of soccer fans the world over. He stated that his team would really be able to improve and that that was what he was looking forward to. The German tactician added that he was very optimistic about Liverpool’s future because he was aware of the potential of his team!

The journalistic frenzy that followed revealed why Klopp was of such a hopeful view; Alexandre Lacazette, the sought-after £60 million striker from Lyon, is once again available, thanks to the transfer ban that Atlético Madrid is currently in the midst of.

According to the Express, signing Lacazette is almost a done deal, but the chairman for Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, has urged the player to stay.

That’s Not the Only Thing on Liverpool’s Agenda

It doesn’t seem that Liverpool are going to stop at signing Lacazette, either, and are likely to fight Manchester City’s designs on Virgil van Dijk, from Southampton, as well. The Liverpool Echo has stated that their city’s team is willing to match all offers from Manchester City and Chelsea, and although the bidding is going to open at £50 million, money will apparently not be the deciding factor in this decision.

The online betting NZ has to offer, as well as that available across the rest of the globe, is on tenterhooks waiting to see which way the deal goes, thanks to the enormous effect it will have on the Liverpool markets.

Mohamed Salah a Liverpool Prospect As Well

Another rumour swirling around Klopp is that Liverpool’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah, of Roma, is likely to be concluded soon as well, with all of the parties in this deal very close to agreeing to the £35 million price tag on this player.

The Transfers Not Likely to Take Off

There is also a lot of news about transfer negotiations that have fallen through:

  • Celtic will not be listening to any offers on Moussa Dembélé, although this may change if they are eliminated in the qualifying round for the Champions League, after that he may be an option, for £30 million.
  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not likely to leave Arsenal any time soon
  • Gareth Bale looks happy to stay in Madrid
  • Anthony Martial has, quote-unquote, no reason to depart from the Manchester team, according to his agent
