Following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers after an abysmal start to the new season, Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as the new Liverpool manager.

Scores of Liverpool fans and players have expressed their delight over the arrival of the German at Merseyside. He holds a prestigious status in football world thanks to his achievements with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

Brendan Rodgers’ greatest achievement was undoubtedly Liverpool’s 2nd place finish during the course of the 2013-2014 season which gave a false hint that the glory days were back at Anfield.

The future seemed bright for Rodgers after getting Liverpool back into the Champions League but he soon fell short of expectations by failing to get past the group stages of the elite competition.

The top four finish could be accredited to the sublime attacking displays of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling but soon after Suarez’s transfer to Barcelona, Liverpool has failed to find that spark up front.

Although many would argue that Liverpool would have won the Premier League title then if not for Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip against Chelsea which cost them the three points in that game.

The aftermath of Suarez’s departure saw Liverpool spend big in an attempt to bolster the squad but most would say Rodgers made too many unnecessary signings such as the case with Tottenham after Gareth Bale’s big money transfer to Real Madrid.

Amid unconvincing performances in the premier league this season it was clear Liverpool needed to bring in someone that can take the club to the next level, hence the arrival of Klopp.

Unlike Rodgers, Klopp has proved himself in the Champions League as he guided Dortmund to the finals of the competition on one occasion before losing out to long time rivals Bayern Munich in a tightly contested affair.

Although Dortmund had an abysmal start in the Bundesliga last season he managed to turn things around in emphatic fashion to finish mid-table and secure der BVB a spot in the Europa league. He announced he was leaving Dortmund towards the end of last season.

Klopp will be looking to utilize the exciting young talent in Liverpool as he did in his time at Dortmund turning the likes of Reus, Aubumayeng, Gotze and Lewandowski into world class players.

Jordan Ibe will be one of the players Klopp will be keen on integrating into the first team set-up.

Klopp’s direct and fluid attacking philosophy would suit Liverpool with the wealth of talent they possess going forward, the likes of Benteke, Coutinho and Firmino would be the main focus of the Liverpool attack with the power, pace and skill they possess similar to that of Klopp’s former attacking trio.

However Jurgen Klopp would need to get the Liverpool defence in tune if he is to make a viable challenge for the top four this season as the Liverpool back line has been anything but reliable over the past few games.

In his time at Dortmund the only thing that stood between Klopp and multiple Bundesliga titles was the dominance of Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, but in a league such as the Premier League where all teams seem to be on a level playing field it would be interesting to see how Klopp fares.

Klopp could be the right man to bring the glory days back to Anfield with his experience, Charisma and track record Liverpool is definitely one to watch this season.

He will get his first taste of life in the Premier League when his troops will be hosted by Tottenham Hotspur in what is sure to be a cracker of a game.

With the January transfer window around the corner Klopp will be looking to bring in a few fresh faces Into the team, possibly a couple of defenders to sure up the defence.
