There is no denying the fact that this season has been a terrible and a scary one for any Chelsea fan. An unprecedented slump in form means that Blues finds themselves at an unexpected 16th spot in the EPL table before their first game of the New Year.

Moreover, a crucial Jose Mourinho Sacking has resulted in an outburst amongst the fans. All in all, this is a difficult period for Guss Hiddink and his men. However, they have a chance to make this all right in this first fixture of 2016 against a high-flying Crystal Palace. Starting with this game, Hiddink has an opportunity to put his team back on track.

The Eagles are currently on the 7th spot with an impressive 31 points, and a victory could take them as high as 5th in the league over Manchester United.

Here we take a look at the five things that Chelsea’s interim manager must do in the long run to rescue Chelsea’s sinking boat.

Use Bamford And Other Young Talents At His Disposal

Not many teams could boast such a strong range of talented youngsters at their disposal. The likes of Ruben Loftus Cheek, Kenedy and the recently back from loan Patrick Bamford are more than ready to prove their worth at any given opportunity. They have the hunger, the skillset and the abilities to play at the top level of the game.

Moreover, their inclusion could also boost the performance of already established players who would feel the heat at their inclusion in the first team. Altogether, playing more youngsters will be a win-win situation for all sides.

Reunite The Dressing Room

The biggest challenge for Hiddink will be to reunite the Chelsea dressing room reportedly broken into various groups under Jose Mourinho. Moreover, renewal of the contract for Captain John Terry must be a priority for the Dutch. His leadership will be something that Chelsea still needs. Also, the arrival of club legend Didier Drogba as an assistant coach could also help the Blues come off their miserable circumstances.

The two legends could unite and lead the Blues back to their best. They can give more character and strength to the team that they have certainly lacked in the recent games.

New Additions in January

Chelsea’s terrible season so far means that they have been linked to each and every player on the transfer market. However, in recent transfer windows, Chelsea have failed to make any significant signing. Their only recent signing was Pedro that they managed to snatch from Manchester United. Moreover, the failed pursuit of John Stones has shown that Chelsea needs to make some changes to their transfer policies to seal transfers as quickly as possible. They are heavily linked to players like Teixeira, and they must finalize the deal quickly.

Bring Back Hazard and Costa To Full form.

Last season’s heroes have been this season’s villains. The duo was instrumental in Chelsea’s title win last season. However, they have failed miserably this season. How this season goes will depend much on the performance of these two players. Diego Costa was lively in his only match after Jose’s departure whereas Hazard has also shown glimpses of his previous best since then. The two, however, still need to make a very large amount of changes to get back to their best.

Go With Full Force in FA Cup And UCL

The EPL is way out of reach for the Blues. Even the top four looks like a distant dream for them at this moment. However, they are still very much in the run for the FA Cup and the Champions League. As a result, they must shift their focus on these competitions to still make this season, a successful one. European glory could mean a great success for the Blues.
