Jason Holder has replaced Denesh Ramdin as West Indies captain for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka, starting next month.

23-year-old Holder, a left-arm seam bowling all-rounder who was appointed team’s ODI captain last December, has only played eight Tests, making 380 runs at 34.54 with a hundred and two fifties and taking 16 wickets at 35.37.

Top-order batsman Kraigg Brathwaite has been named Holder’s deputy for the tour.

Ramdin, under whom captaincy West Indies lost seven, won four and drew two of 13 Tests, has retained his place as a wicketkeeper.

The squad features two uncapped players – left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and fast bowler Carlos Brathwaite.

Warrican has been included as a replacement for Veerasammy Permaul, who struggled in his team’s 2-0 loss to Australia in two-match home series in May.

West Indies will land in Sri Lanka on October 1 and play two tour matches against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in Colombo before meeting the hosts for the first Test at Galle International Stadium on June 14.

The second Test is scheduled at P Sara Oval in Colombo from October 22-26.

The Test series will be followed by three one-dayers and two T20 internationals.

West Indies Squad:

Jason Holder (Captain), Kraigg Brathwaite (vice-captain), Carlos Brathwaite, Shane Dowrich, Rajindra Chandrika, Jerome Taylor, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Jomel Warrican, Shannon Gabriel, Devendra Bishoo, Shai Hope, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Bravo.
