How David Brooks Can Fit in Liverpool Side?

After clinching their first league title in 30 years, Liverpool will look to extend their dominance in England. In one of the most competitive leagues in the world, it takes more than the best coach and a consistent starting XI to stay on top for a sustained period. The aforementioned fact is known to Jurgen Klopp better than anyone else. For a successful title defense, Liverpool have to sign quality backups and David Brooks is one of them.

According to the reports published in standard sports outlets, Liverpool are all set to sign David Brooks in the summer transfer window. The Reds recently signed Olympiacos defender, Tsimikas, and will look to wrap up the deal for AFC Bournemouth midfielder. The player is valued at around £35 million by the relegated side.

Jurgen Klopp is guilty of utilizing the second least number of players throughout the pandemic affected season. The German manager used only 24 players because of which resulted in defeats in the cup competitions. Though the consistency helped the former Borussia Dortmund manager win the trophy, Liverpool failed to add silverware in one of their best seasons. However, the former Borussia Dortmund manager will hope to change the scheme of things after Adam Lallana left the club on a free transfer. Despite earning Klopp’s trust, the player left as he lacked the playing time at Anfield.

Why David Brooks?

It is obvious to compare Adam Lallana and David Brooks. Adam Lallana is famous for his intelligence and industrious work rate on the flanks. This remains true in the case of 23-year-old David Brooks. The player is good with ball and can operate in the central midfield too which can give a lot of versatility in Merseysiders midfield.

David Brooks was one of the best young players in the 2018/19 Premier League season. He scored seven goals and five assists in 30 appearances for Cherries in the season. In 2019/20, the player was tipped to make big inroads but the injury hampered his progress. Even in the injury-laden campaign, he has a pass percentage of 74% in nine games. His absence was one of the main reasons behind Bournemouth’s relegation.

With the player being just 23, Merseysiders will be investing on a player whom they can mold. With his prime years yet to come, the move would benefit the player too who is looking to leave his mark on the game. Apart from his own presence, David Brooks can provide cover to Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane. The Welshman comes with Premier League experience at an affordable price, Jurgen Klopp should make his move and sign him.

Though Liverpool is also linked with Thiago Alcantara, the player is 29-year-old to adapt to the Premier League. This would eventually take time as Liverpool are planning to sell Shaqiri too. With all the things pointing just positivity for Liverpool, they should snap up David Brooks as early as possible.
