Jese Rodriguez has endured a difficult spell at PSG, but his time with the Parisians looks set to come to an end with the club’s hierarchy working tirelessly to find him a new club during the January transfer window.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the former Real Madrid striker as his situation at PSG grows dire by the day, but his likeliest destination remains Spanish outfit, Las Palmas.
A move to Las Palmas would see Jese take a massive wage cut due to the La Liga side’s modest finances, but reports suggest he’d be willing to leave PSG either way.
The Jese Conundrum
After being unable to break into Real Madrid’s first team set-up, despite a few cameos, Jese opted for a move away from the Bernabeu. PSG came calling, and the Spanish striker made what appeared to be a good move to the Parc des Princes.
Upon his arrival in the Ligue 1, Jese has been used sparingly by Unai Emery who doesn’t seem to be convinced of Jese’s ability to lead the line.
Also, with Edinson Cavani in top form, there’s evidently little room for any other striker in PSG’s attacking third. Thus, Emery’s reasons for making Jese a fringe player is quite clear.
Batshuayi’s situation at Chelsea is somewhat comparable to Jese’s quandary. The ex-Marseille striker has found chances few and far between due in large part to Diego Costa’s rich vein of form.
His best shot at first team action seems to be in the lesser cup games. Like Batshuayi it’s clear to see the team’s primary number 9 has contributed a great deal to Jese’s lack of opportunities.
After just six months in France, Jese looks set to jump ship. He’s made just two starts since joining PSG.
Likely Destinations
Reports suggest Jese is keen on a move to Las Palmas, but with Liverpool, Roma and AC Milan also showing interest, Jese’s next outfit is still unconfirmed.
A move to Las Palmas would see him get regular playing time, although, he’ll have to settle for smaller wages if he returns to the La Liga. Alternatively, AC Milan would be a great team for him to move to, seeing as Vincenzo Montella’s side are on the verge of European qualification.
The prospect of featuring in Europe next season could attract Jese. He’s likely to turn down a move to Roma with Edin Dzeko currently occupying the team’s number 9 role.
