The battle for the signature of a leading member of the attacking ranks at Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille is hotting up in Italy. That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, citing English outlet CaughtOffside, who point towards Jonathan David as the player in the sights of a trio of top Serie A clubs.

One such outfit comes in the form of Juventus, who are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements at center-forward with a view to next season. The Bianconeri currently find themselves short on options through the middle, owing to the ongoing injury troubles being dealt with by Arkadiusz Milik.

Add to this the departure of Moise Kean, and the hit-and-miss performances of Dusan Vlahovic, and it should come as little surprise to hear of the brass at the Allianz Stadium keeping a close eye on the situation of the aforementioned David.

The Canadian international has long stood as one of French football’s leading marksmen, as evidenced by his combined haul of 43 goals across the last two Ligue 1 seasons. Ahead of the expiration of his contract at The Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the summer of 2025, Juventus, in turn, are ready to pounce.

As alluded to above, however, the Bianconeri will not have it all their own way in the race for David’s services. Also understood to be in the hunt for the prolific attacker are Serie A rivals Napoli and Inter Milan, as well as a number of clubs from the Premier League.

Whilst bringing in such a high-profile reinforcement free of charge marks an understandably tempting option for Juve amid their search for fresh blood up top, the reality is that the Old Lady of Italian football may be best served in offering up a cut-price sum during the January transfer window. As much, in fact, could prove the decisive factor between David landing in Turin, or at another of European football’s leading clubs.
