Monday night’s matchup will test the title ambitions of both sides in great depth. If the visitors want to get back into the top tier, they must demonstrate that have the resolve, grit and guts to beat the likes of the Gunners.
Arsenal started the new season with a hugely disappointing opening day at home, where disastrous defending gave visitors West Ham an emphatic 2-0 victory. A 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park helped them come out of the trauma, but full marks tonight would drastically lift the spirits at the Emirates.
However, if Arsenal’s attack failed to ignite as it did on the opening day, they could be in serious trouble regarding their title hopes early in the season.
Liverpool, on the other hand, began the season on a promising note, winning both their opening games and keeping clean sheets in the process. For a side, known for their fragility in the defence, such a solid start is a real boost.
