Man United vs West Brom: Match Preview, Team News, Prediction

Date:

Manchester United will look to capitalize on their mid-week victory against CSKA when the Baggies visit Old Trafford this weekend.

United played three consecutive draws before getting back to winning ways in the Champions League. Louis Van Gaal’s side are currently fourth on the Premier League table with 21 points, just four short of League leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils, though, are finding goals hard to come by, they also are yet to concede in the League since the defeat at Arsenal on October 4. Skipper Wayne Rooney will be looking to build on his Match winning performance against Moscow, as there have been debates on whether he still has the ability to perform at the top level.

West Brom lost their last game at home to a Vardy-inspired Leicester on Saturday 3-2, in the previous two games they won against Sunderland at the Hawthorns, and recorded an impressive victory at Carrow Road against Norwich City. The Baggies will certainly come into this fixture with a lot of determination, and they will hope to get back to winning ways. West Brom are 12th on the table with eleven matches played already and 14 points collected so far.

TEAM NEWS

MANCHESTER UNITED: Antonio Valencia and James Wilson are doubtful for this game, Valencia is a doubt due to the injury he sustained in the Manchester Derby in October while Wilson is a doubt as a result of the knock he picked up against Middleborough in the Capital One Cup last week.

Paddy McNair and Luke Shaw are definitely out of the game as both continue their recovery.

Darmian is suspended for this game.

WEST BROM: Ex-United players Johnny Evans and Darren Fletcher are expected to start in the game, but Ben Forster, who used to be a Red Devil, is out with a long-term injury. Chris Brunt is a doubt for West Brom while former Liverpool player Ricky Lambert is fit.

KEY BATTLE

United will look to get hold of possession early in the game through their midfielders. Juan Mata has been in fantastic form so, expect him to play a major hand in this game.

West Brom will want to catch their opponent on the break by capitalizing on loose balls in the middle of the park. An exciting battle in the midfield of this fixture should be expected.
