Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba reportedly turned down a €62 million move to Chelsea on the last day of summer transfer window.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, the Serie A champions had agreed to sell the 22-year-old French superstar to the Premier League club but he opted to stay in Turin after holding consultation with his agent Mino Raiola.

Pogba’s move to England would have been a huge blow for the Old Lady, who had already lost the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vida, and Carlos Tevez this summer.

The Frenchman decision is believed to have prompted the regaining Premier League champions to block the transfer of John Obi Mikel to Turkish club Besiktas.

Pogba has scored 20 goals in 90 appearances for Juve since joining in 2012 and has one year left on his contract with the club.

Last season, he scored 10 goals in 41 games in all competitions for his club, who have lost their two Serie A games this term.

Besides the Blues, Pogba also attracted interest from a host of other top European clubs including Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Juve’s Director General Beppe Marotta has warned the midfielder’s suitors that he would cost them over €100m next time around.

“If Pogba continues his performance of last season, I think next year, €100 million will not suffice,” he said.
