Tottenham Vs Liverpool: Preview, Probable lineups and Team News

After landing arguably the greatest human being as their manager, Liverpool fans will be hoping to see the Klopp magic against Tottenham on the weekend. For a coach who has been destined to do big things for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has been handed a pretty tricky fixture list upfront to make his mark in the Premier League.

After visiting Tottenham on this weekend, the Reds will welcome the likes of Southampton, Chelsea and Manchester City over the next 30-days.

Therefore, while the sacking of Brendan Rodgers brought a relief to Liverpool fans, their team still faces a daunting task if they are to remain anywhere near the top spot come arrival of Christmas.

Talking about Tottenham and they could be rightly called as the most under-rated teams in the Premier League this Season. Even though they signed Son-Heung Min from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, their spending spree wasn’t anywhere near to the other sides like Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, as they say that with stability comes success, Tottenham are currently reaping the benefits from a long-awaited stability.

Being the only side in the Premier League that hasn’t lost a game since the opening weekend, Tottenham are in a brilliant form to get a much-needed win against the Reds.

Though the reign of Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool was a roller coaster ride for the Reds, the Northern Irishman was a constant nemesis for Tottenham. During his tenure that lasted for more than three years, Liverpool defeated Tottenham 5 times in 6 games.

Thus, with their last win over Liverpool dating way back to 2012, the Whites would be hoping to break the Liverpool hoodoo this weekend.

Team News:

Here are the team News for both sides.

Tottenham

The home side will be missing the services of Heung Son for this crunch fixture as the striker is still struggling with the ankle injury that he got a fortnight ago. That means that Harry Kane will lead the line for Spurs with Christian Eriksen playing behind him in a number 10 role.

The absence of Son leaves a void in the Tottenham starting 11 and looking at the players who are coming back from their injuries, Mauricio Pochettino would have a favorable pool of players to replace the injured striker.

The spotlight, however, will be on the teenager Dele Alli, who has accustomed himself to the surroundings of White Hart Lane really well.

He attracted interest from a host of English Clubs – one of which were Liverpool, however, the amount of time he is getting on the field suggests that Spurs’ were the right club for the teenager.

Liverpool:

On Wednesday evening, Liverpool were handed a massive blow when the scans regarding the injury of Joe Gomez came out. The English left back suffered a knee injury on International duty and has been ruled out for the whole of Season.

Apart from Gomez whose continued absence would be a big blow for Liverpool, the return of Roberto Firmino to training might provide Jurgen Klopp with more options to set his midfield.

However, while Christian Benteke has been ruled out for this fixture as well, the partnership of Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge would lead the line for the Reds.

Probable Starting Lineups:

Tottenham: Hugo Lloris – Kyle Walker – Jan Vertonghen – Toby Alderweireld – Ben Davies – Mousa Dembélé – Alli – Erik Lamela – Cristian Eriksen – Nacer Chadli – Harry Kane

Liverpool: Simon Mignolet – Nataniel Clyne – Martin Skrtel – Mamadou Sakho – Alberto Moreno – Lucas Leiva – Emre Can – Adam Lallana – Philippe Coutinho – Daniel Sturridge – Danny Ings

Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Milner, Can, Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe, Sturridge.
