For several transfer windows upon end, Antoine Griezmann has been rumoured to be making a move to the Theatre of Dreams. It’s said that a transfer fee more than £100million would be enough to prise him away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Last summer, José Mourinho had the chance to bring him in, but the Frenchman instead opted to sign a new contract instead. Those rumours have never fully gone away, but now Manchester United are being linked with another world-beater, Paulo Dybala.

Paulo Dybala is undoubtedly the talisman of Juventus, and his status in Turin has almost reached god-like status. In today’s market, there’s only a handful of clubs who could afford the Argentinean. Clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and of course, Manchester United are the only ones with sufficient purchasing power to acquire his services.

Here’s why Paulo Dybala would be a better signing than Antoine Griezmann.

More Versatile

Antoine Griezmann has made a name for himself as a wide forward for Atletico Madrid. Over in Turin, Paulo Dybala has done the same thing but with added versatility. The 24-year-old is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, winger and striker, all positions in which he can affect the game single-handedly.

As a no.10, he’s direct, good at connecting with Gonzalo Higuain and often at the end of crosses through his driving runs in the final third. When he plays on the flanks, Dybala turns to the role of creator where he beats his opposing full-back to link up with other forwards. When he does that, he has the ability to take out three or four players with one pass or deft flick.

At Manchester United, Dybala would have to compete with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Henrikh Mkhitaryan & Jesse Lingard for the attacking positions. However, his quality in all front four positions is so high that he would start in every position in front of all of them. Furthermore, his versatility would give José Mourinho a sense of freedom in formations. Dybala in the squad means Mourinho can go two up front or go with a three, with still more room for flexibility.

Better Player

The Argentine superstar has taken his stocks to new heights this season, regularly being talked about in the same breath as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In 18 Serie A games, the 24-year-old has scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists, that’s more than the so-called best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo. Compare that to Griezmann’s 5 goals this season, and it’s clear who Manchester United should pursue in the summer.

Paulo Dybala is a forward that works hard off the ball, often knowing how where to position himself to cut off passing lanes. On the ball, he’s a wizard that’s just as creative as he is clinical. In Griezmann’s defence, he does work hard without the ball and can affect the game with his off the ball movement, but Dybala just executes those traits with more quality and on a more consistent basis. The 24-year-old would light up the Premier League in a way we’ve never seen before. Get ready.
