Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Spanish left-back Jose Gaya and considering paying £36.6m buy-out clause to seal his services.

Since Cesar Azplicueta (left-back) could be moved to the right to replace under fire right-back Branislav Ivanovic, Blues boss Jose Mourinho needs to add a new left-back in his team to strengthen his defensive options.

A Spanish news site has revealed that Gaya, a summer target of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, is identified as a first choice for the Portuguese manager. Mourinho is considering to launch an offer for the 20-year-old when the transfer window reopens.

Ivanovic is currently under criticism after having failed to produce a striking performance for the Premier League club so far this season.

Gaya, who earned 23 caps for Spain all youth levels, signed a new deal with Valencia earlier this year. However, the Mestalla Stadium has hinted they could release the youngster if any club prepares to pay his £36.6m buy-out clause.
