Football can bring about stunning results and major surprises, with recent years seeing that same element involved with player transfers throughout the world. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Barcelona forward Neymar could send shockwaves throughout Europe.
Recent reports claim that the French club are prepared to trigger the Brazilian superstar’s release clause with a massive £197 million bid, and offer a lucrative contract. While the Blaugrana have not officially announced his departure in any way, there does appear to be a strong possibility that the move will take place.
Splitting up the “MSN” trident at the Camp Nou will be disappointing for supporters, but there are certainly options for manager Ernesto Valverde moving ahead to keep his side competitive in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
We examine five players who could replace Neymar at Barcelona.
5Paulo Dybala – Juventus
One of the most dangerous attackers anywhere in Europe during the past two seasons, Juventus star Paulo Dybala could be an excellent addition to Barcelona.
The Argentine has scored 42 goals across all competitions since signing with the Old Lady in June of 2015.
Similar to that of Neymar, Dybala can occupy an attacking midfield or forward position. This would allow for Barcelona’s 4-3-3 formation to continue effectively. The key may be convincing him to leave Juventus, which could prove to be difficult.
