Manchester United started the season on full throttle as Jose Mourinho looked to lead his side back into prominence in the Premier League as well as the Champions League. However, the Red Devils have since fallen short on both fronts having most recently succumbed to a shocking defeat against Sevilla in the Round of 16 of the Champions League thanks to Wissam Ben Yedder.

Their only chance at silverware this term is the FA Cup, but whether they’ll topple Tottenham and potentially Chelsea is a different matter entirely; hence Jose Mourinho would do well to start considering his squad for next season.

Without further ado, here are 4 players United need to let go in the summer:

4Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw

For a while now Luke Shaw has appeared to be a passenger at United as he’s not had much of an impact on the team’s performances in European competitions and on the domestic front.

Having garnered just 39 league appearances since his move from Southampton to United, it’s fair to say that the England international’s Manchester United career is yet to fully take off.

Jose Mourinho doesn’t appear set to give him a regular starting berth anytime soon, though, and with Ashley Young putting in decent performances on a regular basis, Shaw’s run on the bench is likely to continue well into next season if he remains at United.
