Another year of football has passed by with the most successful club of 2017 being Real Madrid and the most successful player being Cristiano Ronaldo. However, football is not confined to these two entities as there have been so many good player and teams this year.
When it comes to players, 2017 has seen the breakthroughs of some young stars – and here are 5 of the best U21 players of this year (honourable mentions go to Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford.

It is somewhat sad that a player of his calibre is rarely mentioned we speak of young stars. This is a player who helped RB Leipzig to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, so it is absurd that he is not someone that gets as much hype as Rashford or Asensio, for instance.
He scored 21 goals from 32 games last season and already has 12 from 23 this season, stamping himself as one of the best young talents.
